Description

This is a rare BILL GRAHAM PRESENTS “JOINED” DOUBLE handbill/postcard mailer (#BG146-PC & BG147-HB) from concerts at the FILLMORE WEST in San Francisco, Ca. There were FAR fewer of these printed than either individual handbill. The left side is THE MOODY BLUES, & CHICAGO TRANSIT AUTHORITY(Nov 21-24th 1968) and the right side is IT’S A BEAUTIFUL DAY, DEEP PURPLE & COLD BLOOD (Nov 28-Dec 1st 1968). BOTH designs are collaborations between master illustrators ALTON KELLY and RICK GRIFFIN.

This is a pre-concert mailer that measures 7″ x 9 1/4″. It;s in really good shape with NO PIN HOLES and just one hard to spot horizontal crease through the middle of the two designs.

Promoters created handbill versions of many of their posters and used them as handouts and fliers to promote upcoming shows. These handbills represent an important element of music history because they are unique marketing tools that are still used today. Another chance to snag a piece of music history.
